Privacy policy

JustDraw has no accounts, no logins and no database. Almost everything below is a description of things we cannot do, rather than promises about what we choose not to.
The short version
- We never ask who you are, and there is nothing to sign up for.
- Your drawings stay in your browser or in a folder you pick. They are never sent to us.
- We do not sell, rent or share personal data, because we do not hold any.
- Two optional things reach outside your browser: a sponsor slot, and the AI feature if you turn it on. Both are described below.
What we store, and where
Your boards are saved in your browser's local storage, on your device. If you connect a folder with My boards, they are also written as files on your computer, in the folder you chose. We have no copy of either. Clearing your browser data deletes the first; the files in your folder are yours and stay until you delete them.
Settings — theme, grid, last used colours — are stored the same way.
Shared links
When you share a board as a link, the whole board is compressed into the part of
the URL after the #. Browsers never send that part to a web server, so
the board does not reach us even though the link points at our domain. It does
reach whoever you send the link to, and anywhere you paste it, so treat a share
link as being as public as the place you put it.
The AI feature
AI drawing is off until you add your own OpenRouter API key. If you do:
- The key is stored only in your browser. It is never sent to us — we have no server to send it to.
- When you run a prompt, your prompt and a description of the shapes on your canvas are sent directly from your browser to OpenRouter, and from there to the model you picked. Their handling of it is covered by OpenRouter's privacy policy.
- Nothing is sent anywhere until you press Generate.
Third-party code on the page cannot read your key: the sponsor slot runs inside a sandboxed frame with its own origin, which has no access to the storage the key lives in.
Sponsorship
JustDraw is free because of one small sponsor slot, which is what pays for the domain and keeps the whiteboard account-free. There is no tracking of you across sites by us. If an advertising network is ever enabled in that slot, it runs inside an isolated frame that cannot see your drawings, your settings or anything else on the page, and its own privacy policy would apply to what it does inside that frame.
Analytics
We do not run analytics scripts, and there are no tracking cookies. Our host, Cloudflare, keeps standard server request logs for security and abuse prevention; those contain things like IP address and user agent, as any web server's logs do. We do not use them to build a profile of you.
Children
JustDraw is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Rights to access, correct, export or delete personal data only bite where such data exists. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to return or erase — your data is already entirely in your hands. To delete everything, clear your browser's site data for this site and delete any board files in your folder.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what happens to your data, the date at the top changes with it.
